The Endless Choices in Vacuums

How do you decide? Once upon a time, there were only two choices when it came to buying a new vacuum for your floors: upright or canister. Then the upright vacuum with onboard hose and tools came along. Ooooh! (To step back in time, visit the Vacuum Cleaner Museum and Factory Outlet in St. James, MO.) Today, we almost have too many options in floor care, so how do you decide what’s best for you? Consumer Reports has a useful and extensive breakdown of vacuum types and features on their website, available without a subscription here. You must be a subscriber to access the specific brand ratings and recommendations. CR also tells a little bit about many of the major brands and the expected price range for their vacuums. First decide which vacuum type will meet your needs: ♦  upright ♦  canister ♦  installed central vac system ♦  stick ♦  handheld ♦  or a robotic vacuum so you and your cat can mix cleaning with entertainment. (You’ve seen the videos, right?)

New Law in Time for Labor Day

“Lone Star State” is not the only new law that went into effect on September 1st.  Long considered the state’s nickname, it was made official in this last session of the Texas Legislation. Also signed into law was House Bill 2246 aimed at stopping repeat drunk driving offenses, just in time for the holiday weekend. This law, signed by Governor Abbott on June 19, requires that before driving privileges can be restored to a drunk driving offender they must install an ignition interlock on their vehicle.  This bill also gives judges the discretion whether to allow offenders to use the devices. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 40% of all Texas traffic deaths are caused by a drunk driver. In 2013, 1,337 people were killed by drunk drivers in Texas, making it the leader in drunk driving deaths that year in the country. The law requires the interlock be installed for first time offenders with a BAC of .08 or greater if they want to continue to drive af

Time to Order Your Fall Flowers!

Celebrate the cooler temperatures with fall & winter flower color! Flower colors can be combined to create your own signature mix.  Keep in mind that pansies and kale will last until April/May 2016, so fall colors may not be what you want in the spring. We recommend that you mix flower colors by types using either Majestic Pansies or Crown Pansies. If you have already placed your flower color order Thank you! Generally we start planting mid-October depending on the temperatures.  Prices include planting.  All orders are due October 1st. Browse through the choices of colors and mulch.  Reply back to us with the flower type, color and quantity including mulch choices/amount.  Pansies and kale are the hardiest winter flowers for North Texas, however, they are still a perishable commodity and cannot be guaranteed.  If you have questions please do not hesitate to call our office. New Teacher Appreciation

It s time to think about our annual New Teachers Appreciation Breakfast! Members (only!) of the Argyle Chamber of Commerce are invited to contribute items for the goody bags we give to all new teachers from Argyle ISD and Liberty Christian School.  We suggest items that would be helpful to new teachers pencils, pens, notebooks, erasers, and other classroom items.  Gift certificates are welcome as long as no purchase is required to use the gift certificate. We will maintain a list of donations in the office to be certain we do not wind up with lots of duplicate items, so if you plan to include something in this year s gift, please contact the office via email or text (no phone calls, please!) and let me know what you would like to give. This year s breakfast has two sponsors DATCU and Toyota of Denton, so that we can accommodate the growing number of new teachers we welcome each year.  This community gathering makes a huge and favorable impression on teachers coming into the area, s
